Identify the site setup
These steps use the Site Logo block. If your site uses another logo system, follow the matching theme help.
| Field | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Theme | The theme and editor in use. |
| Template | The header or template containing the logo. |
| Placement | The exact logo area you intend to edit. |
| Artwork | The approved version assigned to it. |
Do not replace every image that looks like a logo. Check the placement and selected block so an unrelated page image is not changed.
Choose or replace the approved image
The Site Logo documentation supports a media library image or upload, with Replace and Reset options.

Assigning a Site Logo image updates all Site Logo blocks across the website. Check those placements before and after the change.

Keep a safe original and use the copy for this site. Check the selected image against the approved source. If a file is absent or rejected, inspect its actual format and the editor message before changing the identity.
Keep the intended name, symbol and any tagline together. An old upload with the right filename may still be the wrong version.
Adjust the displayed width
The block settings offer a width slider or number field.

There is no universal WordPress logo width in this worksheet. Compare the whole mark with the available header space. A display control value is not the same thing as the pixel dimensions of your original file.
| Part | Question |
|---|---|
| Name | Can it be read at normal size? |
| Menu | Is there room beside the logo? |
| Outline | Are all edges visible? |
| Proportion | Is any part stretched or squeezed? |
Decide each option separately
Link image to home makes the logo open the homepage. Use as site icon applies it as the browser icon. The site icon option appears after adding an image.

Write down your intended choices. Would this image still read in a tiny space? A long name may need another approved variation.
Prepare a readable small icon first
Keep those choices in your placement note. Selecting an icon option is not a promise about search result display.
Compare the actual result with your record
- Does the visible mark match the approved image?
- Are the name and small details intact?
- Is there enough room beside the other content?
- Do any links behave as you intended?
- What still needs a decision?
If the result differs, compare the selected file and intended placement with your record. Keep the earlier image for reference. Finish after the whole mark and real choices agree; leave an unclear result open rather than silently changing the identity.
