Define the garment job
The right logo size for a shirt depends on the actual item and intended placement. Start with the garment model and ordered sizes. Keep printed artwork preparation separate from a request for embroidered stitches.
| Field | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Garment | The exact product or model. |
| Sizes | The sizes being ordered. |
| Surface | Fabric and garment color. |
| Placement | The front, back, sleeve or other agreed area. |
| Method | The supplier printing method. |
| Quantity | The number of items. |
Get the product print template
Printful provides product templates under File guidelines and says print areas and requirements differ by product.

For your supplier, ask for the current template and record its units. Confirm the usable area and any seams or other regions that should stay outside the print.
Check that you have the template for the actual model and print method. A template for another shirt or placement can give the wrong starting point. If pixels are requested, keep that source calculation as a separate check.
Measure the intended real placement

Record the proposed logo width and height in physical units. Also record the reference used for its location, such as an agreed point near the collar. Ask the supplier to confirm the position rather than use a distance from an unrelated chest chart.
| Field | What to write |
|---|---|
| Logo dimensions | Width and proportional height with units. |
| Position reference | The named point used for placement. |
| Template area | The supplier area it must fit. |
| Status | Proposed or actually confirmed. |
A mockup helps describe the plan. Keep the physical values beside it so the supplier knows what the picture is meant to show.
Compare the ordered shirt sizes
- Inspect the smallest ordered garment size.
- Inspect the largest ordered garment size.
- Compare the whole mark and the available area.
- Check the distance from relevant seams or collar features.
- Ask whether different sizes need separate placement decisions.
Do not assume one visual position suits every model or age range. If a smaller item crowds the mark, ask whether to change the placement or choose an approved alternative. Keep any design change explicit.
Review a sample before the full run
- Does the printed copy match the approved name and symbol?
- Are its physical size and location the ones agreed?
- Can small wording and marks be seen?
- Does the intended background version work on the garment?
- Do the sample and template notes agree?
Describe any difference with the affected part and agreed measurement. Finish after the supplier confirms the template and the actual sample is accepted for the intended item. Save that decision with the artwork and garment record.
