Find out why EPS is requested
An EPS request can mean more than sending a file with these letters at the end. The supplier may have an older application, a specific import rule or a need to edit parts of the logo. Find out which one applies.
| Question | Why to ask |
|---|---|
| Which application and version will open it? | This identifies the receiving setup. |
| Is this for a print job or editing? | The needed content may differ. |
| Must every part be shape artwork? | Name the actual requirement. |
| Are fonts or visual effects a concern? | Ask which details the supplier must preserve. |
| Is SVG or vector PDF also accepted? | Confirm an alternative before sending it. |
Record the answer beside the job name. Do not assume the supplier is asking for a fully editable design source just because it wants EPS.
Check the source before saving
EPS can contain vector shapes and bitmap pictures. The extension alone does not prove that every part is traced.

Start with your approved source. Confirm the exact wording, symbol and layout. If someone sent only a small picture, ask for the original artwork before trying to satisfy a shape requirement.
Check artwork objects before a vector handoff
Keep source quality separate from compatibility. A file may open correctly but still hold the wrong logo or missing details.
Save a separate copy when the source fits
Adobe desktop Illustrator documents File, then Save As or Save a Copy, then Illustrator EPS. Check the requested version and export options. Read warnings before saving. Legacy settings can change data.

Keep the editable original untouched. Use a separate delivery name and note which options the recipient requested. If your editor has different controls, use its own current guide instead of guessing.
Do not choose a setting only to make a warning disappear. Ask the supplier about fonts, colors or effects that may change. If a required detail cannot survive the export, explain that before the job proceeds.
Compare the EPS delivery with the original
- Open the saved copy in a suitable editor.
- Compare the name and tagline with the approved wording.
- Check the symbol, small marks and inside gaps.
- Compare effects and the intended arrangement.
- Ask the supplier to open the actual delivery in its receiving application.
A preview from your own editor is only one check. The recipient should confirm that the whole mark opens as intended. Keep both files until this happens.
If a letter or effect changed, return to the original and discuss the needed correction. Do not call a traced or redrawn difference the unchanged source.
