Start with the approved SVG

Before you convert SVG to PNG, confirm that the trusted file is your approved logo version. Keep it unchanged while you make a copy for this task.

Decide where the PNG will go. Ask for its required dimensions, background and any room around the mark. A logo for a square profile field may need a different export area from the same logo placed in a wide header.

Inspect unclear SVG contents first

If the file opens with missing parts or different lettering, stop and ask its creator. Exporting that view would preserve the wrong starting point.

Choose the area to export

Inkscape 1.3 documents Ctrl Shift E for PNG export with the four areas below.

For your task, check the preview against the whole intended mark. If the page includes color notes or another concept, do not send them as part of the logo. If you need room around the mark, include that room deliberately.

If those controls differ in your version, use its current help. First find the export panel that matches your editor. These choices are from the named guide, not a promise about every installation.

Set the requested pixel size

Use Image Size to enter pixel dimensions, choose a filename, then Export.

Set the required width and check that the height matches the approved proportions. For example, a 1500 by 500 mark at a width of 450 should have a height of 150. These numbers are a planning example.

Do not use a larger output number as proof that the source has gained missing detail. The useful question is whether this copy suits its destination.

Work out proportional dimensions

Check the intended background and edge room

Set the background transparency. Drawing exports have no margin.

Choose the intended backdrop. Do not erase every white part. An inside white shape may belong to the approved logo.

  1. Check all outside edges in the export preview.
  2. Include intended dots, accents and the tagline.
  3. Check whether the requested empty room is present.
  4. Note which background this copy is meant to use.

Check clear areas in the saved PNG

Find where an edge was clipped

Reopen and check the actual PNG

Save an output check record
CheckWhat to record
FilenameThe new copy, separate from the SVG.
DimensionsIts actual pixel width and height.
ContentsThe complete selected mark without stray items.
LetteringMatches the approved name and tagline.
BackgroundMatches the intended placement.

If an object is missing, check the selected area and source. If a palette or board label appears, change the export bounds. Save again and compare the reopened result instead of relying only on the editor preview.

The export is ready when the saved PNG has the requested dimensions, intended background and complete approved artwork in its real destination. Retain the SVG as the original source.
